ABOUT
Amonwan Mirpuri is an artist originally from Bangkok, Thailand. Growing up with a father from India and a mother from Thailand and being raised in a country which is profoundly cultured both unconventionally and traditionally with opposing cultural systems ingrained in the environment, Amonwan grew up having the ability to capture a manifold of essences cultivated through her identity and upbringing, articulating it through her forms of expression, personally and artistically. Being immersed in copious scenes of cultural diversities, and having the opportunity to experience a variety of subcultures, the experience moulded and added to her identity while simultaneously opened up numerous artistic channels for her, giving her the elasticity and understanding to work in a range of design manners and art directions.
Amonwan’s body of work is a translation of her boundless world of experiences crossed with the concept of existentialism in the corporeal world. It is the conversion that bridges the physical realm of matter to the limitless sphere of imagination and inner intelligence. Her main inspiration comes from symbolism art, surrealism, Ancient knowledge, societal issues, personal growth and her perception of reality. It proposes the need for an awareness of identity and self to be able to recreate the rules that have suppressed and bind us, existentially and potentially. As her work progresses, she invites her audience back to the roots of their own beings as they grow internally with her through her art and its progression simultaneously.
